Re: Tabletop Simulator 40K Post by Imperia ยป Sun Feb 05, 2017 11:47 pm This is actually a really cool idea, I have a lot of friends are interested in Warhammer but don't know if they want to go and invest money into something they might not enjoy, or if they want to spend money at all or have to learn the rules. I have to admit that I'm a fan of Tabletop Simulator and use it quite often to check out the gameplay for boardgames which I'm interested in. Wouldn't really be interested in using it to replace the actual boardgame though as I really like the tactile aspect of playing boardgames. Getting Started - TTS Warhammer
Getting Started on getting into or back into 40k. https://generouscaster.weebly.com/blog/guns-gore-and-cannoli-2-2018.
First you are going to need a few things, Namely Table Top Simulator, A 7th Edition Rules Codex, 'Whatever edition you want to play race' Codex, And mods from the Archive. (https://www.reddit.com/r/TTSWarhammer40k/comments/3u5blq/the_archive_an_index_of_all_downloadable/).
Choose an army you have the rules for, a table you have the size for. Models can be subbed in if they have the correct base size. Most of the TTS players are pretty nice, as long as you clearly label what the thing is supposed to represent, if the model doesn't exist yet.
Things you will want to consider getting as a quality of life thing. Battlescribe, (http://battlescribedata.appspot.com/), Battlescribe's Data (http://battlescribedata.appspot.com/#/repos). Use Ctrl+F to find the Warhammer 40k or Warhammer 40k Kill Team data, Kill team is a seperate smaller game, which if you are interested in, can find data pertaining to that. here. (http://heralds-of-ruin.blogspot.dk/p/kill-team-rules.html)
Battlescribe will assist you in putting together your army list, and will compile the rules you'll need to know to play with it, which helps, so you can focus on some of the rules.
Next you'll need a few nice people to play with, and once you have that to decide on a points limit, The size of the game is dependent on the points cost, 500-800 is a skirmish sized battle and will last about an hour to two hours depending on how well you know the rules. 1000-2000 are quite a bit longer, but again depends on how often you have to consult reference sheets. I recommend a 500-1000 Point game to start with, big enough to whet your appetite, small enough so you don't get overwhelmed.
I will also recommend that you start with an army that follows the Combined Arms detachment. Unbound can get a bit chaotic early on and combined arms will teach you more rules with the units you are forced to take for the bonuses. Unbound if you want to use it, lets you take whatever you want, even if that is just five Farseers.
A List of players who have made their steam links available that I have the patience to find, will add rest later, if anyone else posts theirs I will add them as well. - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198045890544/ , http://steamcommunity.com/id/doughboy72/ , http://steamcommunity.com/id/Morruquaan/ (Me) , http://steamcommunity.com/id/shower_thin , http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561197985034316/ , http://steamcommunity.com/id/ye_olde_smith/ , http://steamcommunity.com/id/Isthistaken99/ , http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198051564195 .
Getting Started with TTS, for playing 40k. - You can thank nairulgames if this helps you out.
First you will need mods. Go to your steam browser, go to library, go to Tabletop Simulator, go down to the workshop button, click it and type in what army you are looking for, subscribe to it. Next you'll need some maps, you can type in 40k, or 40k maps, find one you like, or a few, and hit subscribe.
Mac os x 10.13 6 download. Now that, that is done go and start tabletop simulator, it might take a minute if your computer is slow to download and install the mod, once you can do things hit Single player . It will bring up a list of base and DLC stuff. Hit the steam workshop button above Jigsaw, or next to the Games title, this brings up your workshop. Kitty powers matchmaker free no download game.
From there you need to find your army, for my example I am using Imperial Knights, (Great job by the way Dialup_Hero), Once you find your army and load it in by clicking on it. Hit the host button next to the Menu button. Go down to Chest. A Box should open up on the right side. You want to click the Tools box. This will bring up another box, you want the Bag item. Click on that and it will spawn a bag. This is your best friend next to your dice. Download dog vpn free for android.
Put any models you want from the mod and then when you are satisfied with the models you have right click the bag and click Save to Chest. You will have no folders by default, you can add them by going to Host -> Chest -> Saved Objects -> Create Folder. Name the bag and save it to the Chest. And in the future you can select your bag like you did for the mod from the Saved Objects box. I recommend taking one model for each you type you need, and when setting up the army on the map just copying and pasting them, it is a lot less frustrating then pulling fifty models out of the bag.
Tips and Tricks for moving, measuring and other things.
Now that you know how to get your army together, and you have someone to play with, or if you just want to test host, Go to menu, exit to main menu. Hit multiplayer, Host Server, name it whatever you want, put a password if you like and then hit create server. Same thing to load a map, Click the steam workshop button, Find the map you want to use and click on it. Load in your saved army bag from the Saved Objects box from your chest and viola, You have the basics of how to get your army into a game.
Now that you have your army in game there are a few useful things you should know about. Some terrains are a bit finnicky to get models onto, sadly a limitation of the game, or possibly of the models (I am not a programmer sorry x.x), But there are ways around them. If you click on a model or group of models, and hold down T, you will stick them to the first surface they encounter. Please note if you are doing this, the model will hit other things out of its way if they are not locked in place.
https://pdasyhl.weebly.com/kingdom-hearts-birth-by-sleep-rom-non-iso-download.html. To measure distance easily, specifically in a movement phase, pick up a model or models and hold down Tab. And then move it, it will let you know how far the distance is. Tab also works as a shortcut for general measuring, if you aren't holding a model, hold tab down to measure from where your cursor currently is to wherever you want. Good for shooting distance. (Thank god 6th or 7th removed the stupid cant measure before declaring rules) Hold down Ctrl to help select models you didn't get in a drag select, either because you didn't want to select other things as well, or because you just missed it.
If something is blocking you persistently, ask if it is okay to remove a piece of terrain, as long as you both know its there, it should be fine. If a piece is locked and you cant target it, right click or ctrl left click it to get it, go to the toggles menu and untick lock. Middle Mouse button will help flip your stuff over if it falls over or gets flipped over.
